British Native Species

Keep your eyes open for native British plants when you next visit the zoo. We are using more native plants around the gardens as many of them are attractive and interesting, and they also provide food and habitats for native animals, birds and insects. Of course there are obvious ones like oak and beech trees, but look out for wild flower areas too. We are involved in conservation projects for some rare British plants such as Black Poplars and the Isle of Man Cabbage.
