Trees
Trees are a very important part of the Zoo landscape. They help to give shade, act as windbreaks, and provide a green backdrop to the whole Zoo. There are approximately 2000 trees on the site, ranging from young sapling to mature giants. A number of the mature trees are coming to the end of their natural life and will need to be gradually replaced by younger specimens. This will give us the opportunity to plant species of educational and conservational importance, and also enable us to plant species that fit in with the theming of our animal enclosures.
