Water Plants
As you wander around the Zoo you will notice that water forms a very important and prominent part of the landscape. The canals, moats and numerous ponds all teem with animal and plant life.
We are keen to increase the range of species growing in our waterways. You will see evidence of this in the moats around our animal enclosures such as those at Monkey Islands, Orang-utans, Chimpanzees and Lemurs. You will also find many plants associated with out waterfowl areas.
A new water feature has recently been created as part of the Dragons in Danger Garden. A pond and stream have been formed which link into the Lemur Islands moat. The pond and banks of the stream have been planted with a wide range of aquatic and marginal species, which should look their best during the spring and summer months.
