Walkabout Wednesdays
10 March - 24 2010
Come and enjoy a free walkabout tour with one of our Zoo presenters
Each tour is themed to cover a particular area of the Zoo and will visit a number of enclosures giving you an exclusive insight* into the lives of our animals and the opportunity to ask the Presenter questions. The Presenters will be covering exciting topics such as lion training and veterinary care of the big cats. Tours are conducted on a first come first served basis with a maximum of thirty people and each tour lasts about 40 minutes. All tours are free but normal Zoo entry applies.
Looking after the Big and the Beautiful:
Have you ever wondered.......how to trim an elephant's toenails? What is the secret of the Arowana? Why do our keepers pretend to be a female Condor and where do our butterflies come from? Our free guided tour will take you around some of our animal enclosures and one of our knowledgeable and friendly Presenters will tell you all about how we look after our animals and answer all your animal questions.
You can see the tools of the Keepers' trade, have a look and maybe even feel one of our animal artifacts or get up close and personal with caterpillars and chrysalises in the Butterfly Journey.
Tours depart from inside Elephants of the Asian Forest at 11.00am and 2.30pm and finish up at Butterfly Journey. They are very informal and you can come along for as little or as much as you like.
