Work Experience Placements – Animal related (three month period only)

Work experience placements are very popular and we have to limit the numbers we take on, to maintain the balance between staff and students. This means that we try to offer places where there is most need, which usually means that a student has committed themselves to a further education course in an animal science subject, or is gaining experience as a means to taking up Veterinary training.

The minimum age for work experience with animals is 17 years of age.

Placements are available on most mammal sections (very restricted on elephants and primates), birds (including penguins), reptiles and in our aquarium.

Work Experience Non-Animal Areas

We have limited placements available for local young students (age 15 years upwards). We can offer a week or two in retail, amenities and gardens or guest services, providing the period of work experience is not generally in school holidays.
