  • Free shuttle bus service - 13th Aug 2009

    Chester Zoo’s free shuttle bus service, nicknamed Tiger, was operated on a trial basis for the peak school holiday period. The service is currently suspended except for the weekend of 12th and 13th September. We will update our website when we re-introduce the free shuttle.

  • Rare Annam turtle birth - 14th Aug 2009

    Though unremarkable in appearance, this subtly marked turtle species is much sought after in the food and traditional medicine markets of the Far East. It is now so rare in the wild that zoo populations may prove to be the only hope for the species’ survival.

  • Tsavo National Park Bird Safari opening - 10th Aug 2009

    There was a chance for some close encounters of a rare kind when a wildlife safari with a difference was officially launched at Chester Zoo. Councillor Mike Jones, the leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council, opened the zoo’s latest exciting exhibit, the Tsavo National Park Bird Safari, offering a chance to walk freely among some of the most exotic birds in the world.
