Why Support us?
The North of England Zoological Society, otherwise known as Chester Zoo, is a registered charity and needs your support to raise funds for the care and conservation of our animals, and other endangered species, across the globe.

· Each year Chester Zoo is involved with some 150 field projects for conservation and education. Our activities overseas span more than 50 countries, working directly to protect threatened plants and animals, and their habitats, in the wild. Projects range from the support of UK native species such as the Dormouse, to Black Rhino anti poaching activities in East Africa. For further information on some of the conservation projects we support please see the Field Programmme links under Conservation.
· We constantly strive to improve the lives of the animals in our care through detailed and specialist design and planning of new enclosures, to create natural habitats and improved breeding facilities like Realm of the Red Ape - the largest Orang-utan house in Europe.
Our education programme works with hard to reach children in the north west through the Quantum Leap programme for Merseyside and Ellesmere
Port. Further afield the education team are supporting a project in Mkomazi, Tanzania, working on an education package to bring local school children closer to their own native wildlife in the National Parks.
