Recycling
As a registered charity, Chester Zoo relies on income from schemes such as our recycling appeal to help fund our numerous conservation projects
all over the world.
The recycling scheme to date has raised in excess of £50,000 for Chester Zoo and all money raised will go towards the care and conservation of our animals and endangered species. What’s more, it costs you nothing to take part!
There are an estimated 60 million redundant mobile phones in the UK, which are potentially hazardous to the environment. But they can be recycled, or reused in developing countries. We can also recycle old inkjet cartridges - 47 million of which go into UK landfills each year, each one taking 450 years to decompose. Unfortunately we are not able to recycle Epson or large toner cartridges.
The recycling process is simple:
1. Request free recycling envelope(s) from the Development Office at Chester Zoo, by contacting 01244 650229 or development@chesterzoo.org
2. Put your phone or inkjet cartridge into one of our freepost envelopes
3. Send the envelope directly to our recycler and they will send us money for our charity in return.
If you have large quantities of phones or cartridges for recycling, please contact our recycler direct (Recycling Appeal 08451 30 20 10) quoting Chester Zoo’s reference number VEN0087104 and they will arrange a collection for you free of charge.
If you would like more information on the recycling scheme please do not hesitate to contact the Development Office on 01244 650229 or email development@chesterzoo.org
