By Bike
Download a copy of the Zoo Circular map for a great way to get to the Zoo via the canal from the centre of Chester, created by the Chester Cycling Campaign. There are cycle racks at the main entrance and at the pedestrian entrance on Caughall Road. You can plan your ride using the cycle route planner. This great tool will calculate the fastest or least busy route for your cycle ride to Chester Zoo and will even show you all the hills on your journey.

By Rail
Chester Main Line Station (Virgin Trains, Arriva Trains Wales, Northern Rail, Merseyrail), then:
Either take taxi to zoo (about 2 miles) or free City Rail Link bus to City Centre (every few minutes) and First service 1 from Chester Bus Exchange to Zoo Main Entrance (every 20 minutes Monday - Saturday, every 30 minutes Bank Holidays and every hour on Sundays).
The Tiger bus is back from Saturday 22nd May - catch this free shuttle bus to take you to the Zoo's pedestrian entrance. Free for train ticket holders. Pick up this daily minibus service from outside Chester Railway Station (near Queens Hotel) starting at 9.45am.
Bache Station (Merseyrail Chester to Liverpool line). Train every 30 minutes from Liverpool, Birkenhead and Chester then First service 1 from outside Station (every 20 minutes Monday - Saturday, every 30 minutes Bank Holidays and every hour on Sundays).

Take yourself to Chester Zoo with this special 'all in' bargain ticket. Price includes return rail travel to and from the Chester's Bache Station (on the outskirts of Chester) from anywhere on the Merseyrail network, bus from Bache station to the zoo and return and entry to the zoo. Adults £18.50 and children (3-15 inclusive) £14.00. By coach
Let someone else do the driving and travel by coach. If you are visiting the Zoo from Bradford, Leeds or Manchester you can travel on a daily service with National Express. Visit National Express or call into your local National Express office for details.
BY BUS
First Bus is launching a new temporary bus service to Chester Zoo from the railway station 26th July-4th September. It’s a variation to the bus company’s Service 1 which also covers the Chester Bus Exchange, Cheshire Oaks, and Liverpool. It operates from 8.57am at the railway station until approx 6pm from the Zoo Mondays to Saturdays only approx every 15 minutes.
Fares are: £2.75 Adult Return and £1.80 Child Return
NB: this service is in addition to the FREE shuttle-bus service that operates every half an hour from 9.45am daily and finishes in line with the zoo closing times. The Zoo shuttle bus runs from the bus stop outside The Queen Hotel until 12th September. It drops off passengers at the zoo’s Caughall Road entrance. It is available to zoo visitors who have travelled by rail and guests staying in one of the nerby hotels.
Chester Town Hall Bus Exchange
First Group Service 1, every 20 minutes Monday - Saturday during the daytime. On a Sunday the service runs hourly and on Bank Holidays every 30 minutes.
Liverpool via Birkenhead, Ellesmere Port and Cheshire Oaks
First Group Service 1, every 20 minutes Monday - Saturday during the daytime. On a Sunday the service runs hourly and on Bank Holidays every 30 minutes.
Ellesmere Port and Chester
GHA Coaches, Service 4 operates every 30 minutes Monday - Saturday to the Pedestrian Entrance of the Zoo.

BY AIR
Chester Zoo is easily accessible from both Manchester International Airport and Liverpool John Lennon airport.
From Manchester Airport take airport link roads for M56 motorway, joining at Junction 5, then follow brown signs to the Zoo.
From Liverpool Airport take A562 for Widnes, following M56 signs to cross Runcorn Bridge and join M56 at Junction 12, then follow the brown signs to the Zoo.
BY ROAD
Our motorway and road network means that Chester Zoo is easy to reach from all over the UK, and you can be here in under two hours from as far as Birmingham or Leeds. The postcode for satellite Navigation systems is CH2 1EU. We have extensive free car parking on site.
