Asian Plains

Chester Zoo's ‘Asian Plain’ paddock is a mixed exhibit featuring the magnificent Greater One-horned Rhinoceros, living with Brow-antlered Deer and Black Buck.

The paddock features heated mud wallows, which our Rhinoceros can frequently be seen enjoying and bathing in. On one side of the paddock, a cut-out of the three species can be viewed, giving visitors an idea of the huge size our Rhinoceros will grow to.

We hope to begin a breeding programme with the almost ‘prehistoric looking’ Greater One-horned Rhinoceros in the near future.
