Black Rhino Conservation Programme

Chester Zoo has a strong partnership with both Save the Rhino International and the Kenya Wildlife Service, particularly in Tsavo East National Park, Kenya. Here Chester Zoo has supported the translocation of 20 Black Rhino and continues to support their protection.


Chester Zoo also supports conservation initiatives for Black Rhino in Mkomazi Rhino Reserve, Tanzania, Chyulu Hills NP, Kenya, and a community education programme in Laikipia, Kenya. In addition, together with The Manchester Metropolitan University, the Zoo funds research into the ecology of Black Rhino and other large herbivores in Kenyan game reserves.
