Owls

There are about 200 species of owls in the world, which are found in a huge range of habitats from rainforests to the arctic tundra. Owls are largely nocturnal or crepuscular, carnivorous birds of prey. They are typically solitary birds, which are often characterised by their round, flat faces and large, staring eyes. They use their sharp eyesight to hunt in the dark and they have an acute sense of hearing that also helps them to locate their food, which consists mostly of small mammals, insects and other birds. Their fluffy feathers make their flight almost silent, enabling them to hunt with stealth and surprise.
