Penguins
Penguins are a group of aquatic, flightless birds that live almost exclusively in the southern hemisphere, mostly in large colonies. Spending as much as 75% of their time in the water, Penguins are highly adapted to aquatic life. Although they cannot breathe underwater, they are able to hold their breath for long periods of time. Penguins are astonishingly agile and efficient swimmers. Their bodies are torpedo shaped and their wings (useless for flight) have become flippers, so when they swim, they look as if they are flying underwater! On land, Penguins are quite comical to watch. They move about either by waddling on their feet or "tobogganing" on their bellies. They also jump to climb up and down rocky ground.
