Andy Jennings-Giles

B.Sc (Hons)

Biodiversity Assistant

This is my second opportunity to work at the zoo and I am extremely excited to work with Sarah Bird, helping to deliver the UK and Europe field programmes. I studied Environmental Science at the University of East Anglia and my final year project looked at cattle-grazing effects on grassland and heathland reserves.

Since then, I have worked as a Voluntary Trainee Ranger with Surrey Wildlife Trust, as a Charity Fundraiser, as an HLF Funded Biodiversity Trainee and most recently as an Assistant Park Ranger at Tatton Park. I’m particularly focused on small mammal surveys and identifying native plants, but I also have an interest in landscape connectivity and habitat management techniques.

My current role is focused around providing support for the native species projects, along with producing a management and monitoring plan for Phase 2 of our zoo Nature Reserve.
