LdoVet, MSc, MRCVS

Veterinary Manager

I graduated from Zaragoza University, Spain, with a degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1992 and later obtained the Master’s degree in Wild Animal Health by the Royal Veterinary college of London and Zoological society of London.

As Veterinary Manager at the Animal Health Department, I lead a team of three permanent veterinarians, one ECZM, Zoo Health Management (ZHM) resident and four technical support staff, providing health care to the animal collections and support for Chester Zoo’s conservation, training and research programmes.

I am particularly interested in amphibians and reptiles, as well as wildlife conservation having, over the past 25 years, been providing veterinary support to conservation programmes such as the conservation breeding and release of the Malagasy ploughshare tortoise, the rescue programme for the Montserrat mountain chicken frog and the, previously thought extinct Madagascar Pochard, as well the endangered passerine’s conservation breeding centre in Cikananga, Java.
