Using audio-visuals, bio-artefacts and referring to numerous in-zoo examples this session will cover the following topics:

▪ What is a species?
▪ variation as an integral part of the evolution process
▪ natural selection, including stabilising, directional and disruptive selection
▪ examples of speciation with reference to Zoo animals
