Islands on the Edge - Study Day

Psittacula echo - male 4 - small

We are now taking bookings for our new Study Day programme: Islands on the Edge.

This new Study Day combines a guided tour of some of Chester Zoo’s many island species, an interactive classroom session and a downloadable self-directed Zoo trail to look at the importance and fragility of island ecosystems.

Using the Mascarene Islands as a case study, discover the many threats facing endemic species, the devastating impact of humans and the conservation work that Chester Zoo supports.

Islands on the Edge Study Day will be running during the autumn and spring terms and would appeal to students of geography, environmental science and biology subjects at AS level or above.

The 3 parts of the Study Day:

Part 1:    Islands on the Edge Out and About: an around the Zoo session looking at island species and ecosystems

Part 2:     Explorer Trail: a leisurely self-led trail for students

Part 3:    Islands on the Edge Discovery Programme*: a classroom session looking at threats and conservation
