Prices & Payments

Our educational rates are offered to educational establishments on weekdays during Cheshire West and Chester term time. Pre-booking is essential to qualify for the educational rates.

Booking as early as possible will help ensure we can accommodate your visit and that you are able to book the dates and times you require. Early booking is especially advised if you would like to book one of our curriculum linked workshops.

We also offer discounted rates on the monorail if these are pre-booked. Just ask our team for details when booking.

Free school visits:

In July we announced a commitment to providing free entry to the zoo for 35,000 school pupils visiting between November 2017 and February 2018, in a bid to broaden the impact of our work as a conservation and education charity inspiring the next generation of conservationists. We have been delighted by the reaction of schools, many of them from areas we have never previously worked with, helping us to expand the reach of our educational activities. If you would like to book a school visit during this time and have not yet done so, we regret to inform you that the free places are fully booked. However, we still welcome your visit and invite you to take advantage of our specially discounted educational rates.

Free admission November 2017 – February 2018:

Update: all free school places are now fully booked.

The November to February free admission offer is only available to year groups Reception to Year 13.

The number of free admission places is limited and if the limit is reached you may be asked to visit on another day and/or to pay the standard education admission prices for the Autumn/Spring period. Early booking is advised.

Accompanying adults will be admitted free of charge at the ratios outlined above. Adults visiting over and above this ratio will be charged the additional adult rate.

Junior Members and Blue Peter badge holders

We’re really happy for Junior Members to come along on school visits. They’ll be admitted to the zoo free of charge but they’ll need to bring their membership cards with them. Junior Members aren’t included when we calculate how many free adults you’re entitled to.

Please note that we don't accept Blue Peter badges.

Workshops

Our workshops cost £28 per session and we can accommodate up to a maximum of 20 pupils in each workshop. In a couple of our Out and About sessions, we take a maximum of 15 students.

Have a chat with our Education team when you're booking to find out more about our workshops. We have the potential to run three workshops at one time and 12 over the course of the day.

Please note that we reserve the right to charge for booked workshops if these are cancelled and we are unable to re-fill the sessions.

To book an educational trip please see the booking your visit page.

Payment

When you phone to make your educational booking, our staff will ask how you want to pay.  There are various options:

Pre-pay by cheque or card
If you choose this option, please note that pre-paid tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. Any additions to your party on the day will also need to be paid for in cash.

Pay on the day by cash, cheque or card
With this option, you pay the admission fee for the number in your party which attends the zoo on the day, regardless of the number booked in.

Request to be invoiced after your visit
An invoice will be generated by our Accounts Department and will be emailed or posted to you a couple of days following your visit. With this option, you will be invoiced for the admission fee of the number which attends the zoo on the day, regardless of the number booked in.
