The zoo is such an exciting place for young children with so many animals to look at, to listen to and to smell!
It’s a place that sets our senses buzzing and where we start our fascination with our four-legged, two-legged, winged, scaled and finned friends!
It’s never too early for them to start learning about the natural world and the animals and plants we share it with.
But, we know it can be daunting bringing a group of very young children to the zoo, so the better organised you are and the more familiar you and your group leaders are with the plan for your day the greater the enjoyment for everyone. And we’ve done our best to make things a little easier for you!
As a nursery teacher, we offer you a free pre-visit (see Pre-visit Information) and we have also put together a resource to help you plan your day:
Nursery Schools at Chester Zoo
As we’ve suggested in our resource above, having a topic for your day can really help you have a more structured and educational visit. So, we’ve put together a couple of ideas for you to work through with your nursery pupils which we hope your children will find enjoyable and stimulate them to want to know more about the natural world.
