KS1 Workshops

Our interactive workshops include activities, amazing artefacts and sometimes a live invertebrate. It’s fun for everyone so teachers participate too.
Our workshops are for groups of up to 30 students.
Looking After Animals
At Chester Zoo our keepers are very busy looking after over 11,000 animals. In this workshop you’ll discover what is involved in keeping all these animals safe and healthy, and you’ll have a chance to practise being zoo keepers!
A Bug's Life
All creatures are fascinating, whether great or small. This workshop looks at some of the smaller animals we have in Chester Zoo, featuring three different bugs.
You’ll learn what an insect is, where they come from, what they eat, and all about their lifecycles.
NEW - Our giant animatronic BUGS exhibition is arriving in July 2013 ; find out all you need to know before you visit with this session.
Night-time Creatures
Dark can be scary or fascinating. This workshop focuses on a group of animals who thrive in it. We look at how they have adapted to life in the darkness and the senses they use to find food and avoid predators!
African Animals
Africa is home to many different animals from the large to the small. This workshop will introduce you to a few using artefacts, activities and more.
