There are over 5,000 mammal species in the world. Discover some of the most exotic and endangered mammals on the planet, right here at Chester Zoo.
Mammals are air-breathing animals, usually have hair or fur and females produce milk for their young. We have 75 different species at the zoo, ranging in size from our tiny sengis up to our enormous Asian elephants.
Many of the species that we have at the zoo, like the black rhino, are in danger of becoming extinct in the wild in the next 25 years. The work we do in the zoo and around the world is helping to protect their future.
