Big Cats

We're lucky enough to have some amazing 'big cats' here, including tigers, lions and jaguars. Keep an ear out too, as big cats are the only cats able to roar.

Big cats typically have really strong sharp claws as well as impressive (and sharp!) canine teeth. All cats mainly eat meat and in the wild big cats are also known as apex predators, meaning they're at the top of the food chain. Although they have no predators of their own they play a crucial role in maintaining ecosystem balance.

While our cheetahs are not technically big cats (no roaring here), they're still extraordinary creatures and are the fastest land mammals in the world.
