ALBATROSS

By Linda Byrne

My father, Henry Mapplebeck was a Merchant Navy Officer sailing between Liverpool and America. On one of his voyages returning to the UK an Albatross landed on the ship, it was injured. The crew looked after it and when they docked in Liverpool it was taken to Chester Zoo to be cared for. Unfortunately, I cannot give a date, I just remember my father telling me about it.
