The Elephants arriving

By Cecilia Marjorie Barnett

My mother-in-law, who is 87, remembers going to the zoo every Saturday morning with her friend and weeding the front of the house. She remembers the elephants arriving and the Indian Gentleman offering to give her a ride.

However, the moment she got on she was too frightened and asked to get down. She remembers the pelican and the lady in the Kiosk who took the money.(She did say that she thought the Indian Gentleman married the lady in the kiosk, but not sure if this memory is correct). The two children used to go into the kitchen for toast and said the people where very kind to them.
