Two tigers

By Stuart Minshull

My father worked as a contractor at the zoo. He had a small wagon that is on the TV programme Heartbeat, a small Bedford carting ashes from the BICC works in Helsby to make the roads at the zoo. One day Mr Mottershead asked my father would he go to a Circus Winter Quarters, either at Maidstone or Maidenhead, to collect two tigers who would not perform in the Circus. I can remember him coming home with two cages on his wagon and when they set off Mr Mottershead went with him. I did not see the tigers but my father was given photos of them but over time they have been lost unfortunately.
