Lions

By Sally

I did that drawing when I was in the infants at school (so aged about 6). At that time, Chester Zoo was the only Zoo I'd ever visited. I remember loving the way the lions just lolled about and seeing how happy they seemed.
Later I went to a small zoo down South and was shocked to see animals confined to small cages: I had not realised that Chester Zoo was intended as a zoo without bars.
Since my childhood I have been back to the Zoo with my children and now with my grandchildren. A lot has changed but those Lions are still in the same place.
