How Boris Came to the Chester Zoo

By Hester Mundis

I rescued Boris from a pet shop when he was a baby and raised him for two years in our New York apartment--along with my son and our German Shepherd dog.
When I became pregnant with my second child, I realized that 3-year-old Boris was getting too large and strong to stay with us. Heartbreaking as it was to part with him, I was determined to ensure him the best life possible for the rest of his life. And from all the zoos around the world, I chose Chester as the one to do that. And it has.
Every time I've visited, I'm reminded how grateful I am to everyone at the Chester Zoo for all they've done and continue to do for my "son." And I will always be indebted to Mr. Mottershead for his vision and providing Boris with such a wonderful world in which to live his life.
