Would you like to the chance to feed the giraffes?
Learn more about our Giraffe Encounters and you could feed the giraffes face to face on the feeding platform.

Giraffes are one of the world’s most easily recognised animals with their long necks and long legs.

Can you work out which are the male Giraffes and which are the females?

Males are taller then females and have larger horns.

Can you tell the difference between our adult giraffe and the young giraffe?

Young Giraffe carry their neck in a more erect way, they have short, soft and slightly woolly hair and have a brush-like mane and tassels for horns.

Giraffe feed on all sorts of leaves, shoots, bark and flowers, their tongues can be 45cm long and are used to pull leaves and shoots from spiky trees. Their long necks enable the Giraffe to reach trees as tall as 6 meters.

Did you know that Giraffe have 7 neck bones like humans, they are just a lot bigger!

You could adopt one of Chester Zoo’s Giraffes!

As well as being able to watch them live on the webcam, you would receive 2 tickets so you could visit Chester Zoo and see them for real.
