Eat, Drink, Refresh

catering - family at bench - small - 1

Enjoying yourself this much can make you hungry. So we have lot of places around the zoo to eat, whether you want a quick bite on the go, or a sit-down meal.

As well as the major stopping points shown below, we have several kiosks dotted around, selling hot and cold pastries, hot dogs, ice-cream, sweets, and hot and cold drinks. (These are open seasonally.)

Responsible produce

We try to get as much of our food locally as possible, and many of our meals are prepared fresh at the zoo each day.

We also try to avoid any ingredients that would conflict with our conservation work.

That means all our ice-cream is free of palm oil, as well as some of our chocolate. Palm oil plantations are a major cause of deforestation, which destroys habitats and adds to climate change.

Every cup we sell of our exclusive Shuka coffee helps fund our charitable work worldwide, including support for our coffee farmers in Africa. All our fish is accredited by the Marine Stewardship Council, and our coffees and teas are Fairtrade and Rainforest Alliance approved.

Winter opening

June’s Pavilion and Café Bembe are open all year round. But the smaller places may not be open in winter, when there are fewer visitors to look after.

  • Clean hands, good health

However clean you keep a zoo (and we keep ours immaculate), it’s still a zoo. So we recommend washing your hands regularly, especially before you eat.
