Donate your time to Chester Zoo by becoming a volunteer!

Volunteers play a vital role in the zoo; from helping the Fundraising Team to raise money and marshalling at events to joining the Butterfly Brigade and helping out in the zoo’s Butterfly Journey exhibit.

Apart from the Butterfly Brigade volunteers, many of the roles here at the zoo are on an informal ad hoc basis, where we'll notify you in advance of when we may need you. All our volunteers will be working with people at the zoo, so enthusiasm and good social skills are a must. 

Please note that volunteering for Chester Zoo does not involve working with any of our animals and the minimum age for our volunteers is 16.
