Donate your time to Chester Zoo by becoming a volunteer!

Volunteers play a vital role in the zoo; from helping the Fundraising Team to raise money and marshalling at events to joining the Butterfly Brigade and helping out in the zoo’s Butterfly Journey exhibit.

Apart from the Butterfly Brigade volunteers, many of the roles here at the zoo are on an informal ad hoc basis, where we'll notify you in advance of when we may need you. All our volunteers will be working with people at the zoo, so enthusiasm and good social skills are a must. 

Please note that volunteering for Chester Zoo does not involve working with any of our animals.

How to apply

As part of the volunteering recruitment process we require that each person attends an information day where volunteers will get to find out more information about volunteering at Chester Zoo as well as a chance to discuss any queries that you may have.

It is also a great chance for the volunteers to meet each other and discuss their experiences.

Thursday 31st May 4pm-6pm
Friday 22nd June 10am – 12pm
Thursday 28th June 4pm-6pm
Wednesday 11th July 4pm-6pm
Friday 20th July 10am – 12pm
