What’s your role on the Youth Board?
Equality and Diversity Lead/ External Reach Co-Lead.
What does the zoo mean to you?
I’ve been visiting the zoo for many years. It’s where I discovered my passion for biology and conservation.
How have you supported the zoo, whether that be recently or over a longer time period?
Aside from visiting, my main contribution to the zoo has been through my work on the youth board. Giving young people a voice on conservation issues is something I am incredibly proud to do.
Why do you feel so connected and passionate about the zoo and its work?
The zoo gives visitors a chance to see that they fit into a wider world – from the Tropical Realm to the Grasslands, you cannot leave the zoo without a sense that humans are one species amongst many.
What do you hope to achieve in your role on the Chester Zoo Youth Board?
As part of the youth board, I hope to champion youth voices in conservation and encourage young people to take matters into their own hands.
What have you got out of being a part of the Youth Board so far?
Most importantly for me, being part of the youth board has connected me with incredible peers from different backgrounds who are all passionate about conservation.
