Chester Zoo is the UK’s most visited zoo, with 25,000 animals in the collection and a record-breaking 2 million visitors in 2019.

Our Exhibitions and Interpretation Team work closely with the animal teams, architects and designers to develop interactive, engaging and thought-provoking exhibits and interpretation. We’re continually developing innovative, creative and immersive interpretation alongside amazing zoo design, with Islands opening in 2015, Madagascar and our lemur walkthrough in early 2019, the UK’s largest Asiatic Lion habitat in late 2019 and finally the brilliant reopening of Monsoon Forest in 2020.

This two day course will take you through how research informs our design, how we ensure our exhibits meet the needs of a range of demographics and the importance of a visitor journey around the spaces we create. We’ll take you through key design stages using our case studies and ensure you’re able to apply these concepts to your own projects or designs, or aid you in developing your career in the sector.

There will be opportunity to attend for an optional third day onsite at the zoo. It’s open to anyone who has completed the two day virtual course with us, with an additional cost of £40.

This course has very limited numbers, so we advice to book early to avoid disappointment!
