Public engagement is incredibly important to the work that we do, ensuring visitors know about conservation and what they can do to help wildlife.

Join us every Saturday for three weeks for an exciting introduction into public engagement at Chester Zoo and how we interact with our visitors. Our experts from will explain why and how they plan and deliver public talks, shows and stories, create signage and games and how they have conservation focused conversations. You will have the opportunity to get hands on to develop your own skills in public engagement with our Zoo Ranger team.

Learn about the incredible conservation projects that we support around the globe, and how public engagement is a vital part of our work to prevent extinction.

Who is it for? Junior Conservationist Skills Courses are for young people who are in secondary school years 7-9. Children should be booked into the school year group they are currently in. The school year runs 1 September – 31 August.

What’s included? 3 morning sessions: 10.30am – 12.30pm

Our Junior Conservationist Skills Courses do not include any hands-on contact with any of the animals in the zoo, or behind-the-scenes access to any keeper areas.
