Our brand new showpiece wedding venue, The Square, is an extension of our existing Grade II listed stable block that has stood at the heart of Chester Zoo since opening day in 1931. Several historical features have been preserved to retain the rich history and character of the building.
The Oakfield lies at the centre of Chester Zoo, both physically and in our history. It’s here where it all started for our zoo. Beautifully restored with intricate wood panelling, historic photos and views out onto the gardens, it is the perfect place to make your vows.
Few other wedding venues can offer you the amazing opportunity to have your wedding photos with some of the world’s most endangered wildlife. Between the ceremony and reception you will be able to enjoy the zoo itself and make some brilliant family memories.

Our Venues…
The Oakfield
In 1930, George Mottershead moved into this glorious Victorian mansion and began realising his vision for a new kind of zoo – a haven for animals from all over the globe.
Today, the Manor remains at the heart of Chester Zoo, and has been lovingly restored to become the ideal setting for your wedding day. Ornately decorated and rich with historic details, it’s hard to imagine a more perfect location for an experience you’ll remember all your life.

Where old meets new. Our original stable block from the 1930’s will become a wonderfully, unique venue at the heart of the zoo, sustainability renovated from the ground up.
