Join our Zoo Rangers as we dive into the world of ornithology – the study of the feathered phenomena we know as birds! In this short course, we will look into the basics of bird watching, bird identification and explore some of the brilliant birds found both natively and in the zoo.
A typical “introduction to” course may look like this (please note topics vary):
2pm – drop off at Joseph banks room
2:15pm – introduction to topic
2:35pm – talk from keeper/scientist
2:55pm – activity in zoo
3:45pm – final questions and feedback
4pm – pick up
Who is it for?
Young people in secondary school years 10-12. Children should be booked into the school year group they are currently in. The school year runs from 1 September – 31 August.
What is included?
2 hours of activities in the zoo. Lunch is not included
This course does not include any hand-on contact with any of the animals in the zoo, or behind-the-scenes access to any keeper areas.
