Although there are only eight species of bear in the world, they live all around the world in habitats from mountain forests to the arctic. Bears can be large and powerful, however they're mostly shy creatures.

In the past bears have been hunted for their meat and fur, but the threats they face now are habitat loss, illegal trade and climate change. They may come into conflict with humans when raiding crops or attacking livestock.

We have two of the most fascinating types of bear here - sun bears and spectacled bears. Both are considered vulnerable to extinction.
