Dogs are social mammals who live in groups where each member has a crucial job to do, from leader to lookout.

Many wild dogs are also skilled hunters themselves, communicating and co-operating with each other as they hunt in organised packs.

We look after a group of South American bush dogs and also a family of African painted dogs. Both are important species which are on the brink of extinction in the wild, with only a few thousand left in a handful of countries.
