A pair of Asiatic Lion cubs is born to Asha and Asoka. Asha arrived at the zoo the previous year, and we were delighted to have cubs born a year after! Unfortunately, Asha struggled to rear her cubs and sadly one of them was too weak to survive. The surviving male cub, named Tejas, was then hand-reared by our team of keepers. Tejas was popular with visitors and his story featured on the TV series Zoo Days, a behind the scenes series about Chester Zoo. Photo credit: Marian Wade
