The Tamworth pigs were new arrivals at the zoo and were being temporarily housed on one of the paddocks in the Giraffe section. Trying to move them to the recently-completed Piggery at the Children’s Farm proved to be an hilarious experience for all concerned! Tim Rowlands, a keeper at the time (now curator of mammals), was involved with rounding up the two young pigs and herding them across the zoo to their new home. Apart from Tim nearly ending up in the orangutan moat in an attempt to manoeuvre around a running pig! Photo credit: Chris Vere
