I was born in 1929, I spent many school holidays at my aunties house in Shotton. On one of my visits she took me on the bus to visit Chester Zoo in the year 1936. I recall seeing wild animal for the first time close up in cages, including a lion.
Having visited the zoo on many occations since with my own children and grandchildren, I have witnessed the development of the zoo over the years. David McGrath.
