Ben has worked for a number of years with the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI). After a chance meeting with the famous primatologist Dr Jane Goodall DBE, Ben moved to Uganda to work with chimpanzees and ran a large field programme for the JGI working to project the largest and oldest mahogany forest in East Africa.
Ben’s work covered law enforcement and chimpanzee conservation and he is now studying for a PhD in primate evolution, whilst still actively involved in conserving the world’s apes.
The programme for Saving Apes: Frontline Conservation also includes TV wildlife expert and vet Steve Leonard, Dr David Chivers and Prof. William McGrew, both ape specialists at the University of Cambridge, plus speakers from PASA sanctuaries in Africa and Chester Zoo’s own primate team.
Ben will be talking about snare removal from wild chimps and the bushmeat trade in Africa and the UK.
