We’re very excited to be able to offer new dates for our popular ‘ZOO KEEPER FOR A DAY’ experiences!

Spaces will be allocated on a first-come first-serve basis and our primate staff will endeavour to answer all calls as swiftly as possible. We thank you in advance for your patience.

Truly a once in a lifetime opportunity!

Ever fancied mucking in (or mucking out) with a real-life zoo keeping team? Well now’s your chance!

We’re one of the only zoos in the UK that offers a one-to-one personal keeper day working with an animal section of your choice. You can choose from a range of different animals sections to look after, including some of the world’s most endangered species.

Working alongside our expert keepers, you’ll learn lots of fascinating animal facts and learn what a day in the life of a keeper truly involves! You’ll get involved in every part of the keeper’s day, from preparing food to feeding and cleaning out. Plus, whatever surprises may come along…

Times:
Mammal and Reptile Keeper for a Day experiences – 8am-5pm,
Bird Keeper for a day – 7am-4pm
Gardener for a Day – 8am-4pm.

Our Keeper Days are only held on Wednesdays. Bookings and payments must be taken over the phone. The day begins at 8am and finishes at 5pm with tea breaks and lunch included. You’ll also get a signed certificate in a presentation pack and a gift to remember your special day.

Full day Mammal experience – £350
Full day Reptile, Aquarium and Reptile experience – £285
Full day Bird experience – £285
Full day Gardener experience – £170

Over 18s only.

All the money we raise through this scheme goes to support our wide range of conservation work at the zoo and around the world. So your day as a keeper will be making a difference to worldwide conservation too!

*Please note: Each Keeper for a Day session is for one person ONLY. Multiple people are not permitted on a single session.

Who will you choose?
Carnivores - £350 - SOLD OUT

Meet the Carnivores: Lions, Tigers, Cheetahs, Jaguars, Bush dogs, Mongoose, Hunting dogs, Sun Bears, Spectacled bears, Binturong, Giant otters.

Twilight - £350

Meet some of our small mammals including Rodrigues bats, seba’s bats, giant anteater, tree kangaroo, sengi, capybara, visayan warty pigs and meerkats.

Giraffes - £350

Our majestic herd of Rothchilds Giraffe, Short Clawed Otters, Camels, Okapi, Red River Hogs, Barbirusa, Southern Pudu, Congo Buffalo and Onager.

Rhinos - £350

Some of the largest mammals! Including black rhino, Indian one horned rhino, Grevy’s zebra, Banteng, Anoa, Eastern bongo, sitatunga and Roan antelope.

Elephants - £350 - SOLD OUT

Work with our fantastic herd of Asian Elephants!

Birds - £285
LIMITED AVAILABILITY

Join our early birds from 7am-4pm! Including flamingos, hornbills, ibis, starlings, weavers, waterfowl, cranes and owls.

Parrots - £285

Join our early birds from 7am-4pm! Including penguins, macaws, cassowaries, curassow, free-flight passerines and cockatoos.

Reptiles, Aquarium, Amphibians & Butterflies - £285

Amazing Komodo Dragons, Frogs, Tortoises, Lizards, Snakes, Amphibians, Fresh water, Marine fish,& Butterflies.

Primates - £350 - SOLD OUT

Orangutans, Chimpanzees, Spider Monkeys, Sulawesi macaques, Mandrills, Lemurs, Marmosets and Tamarins to name just a few!
