This wonderful experience will bring you closer to the magic of truly unique butterflies and incredible bugs!
From stick insects, beetles, creepy crawlies, and butterflies, you’ll be amazed at the diverse nature of our smaller creatures!
Help keepers release butterflies into the butterfly house and fill up their food and nectar – get really hands on with our conservation work!
Bugs are amazing, unique animals with many adaptations for survival in the wild. You’ll learn all about how they adapt and the detailed work that goes into conserving some of the planet’s most endangered species. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask our experts questions about the incredible work of our keepers.
Be transported to our indoor jungle of insects, and prepare for the humidity too – our butterfly house is kept at a toasty 24 – 28 degrees!

Your experience
Will last approximately 45 minutes with approximately 30 minutes spent with the animals.
The chance to get up close and personal to some of our amazing bug species and butterflies. Go behind the scenes and inside their habitat in The Butterfly House and hold some of these amazing species.
The opportunity to learn about these animals and ask our keepers any questions you may have.

Experience includes admission for the participant only.
The Experience is available for adults and children over the age of 5 years old; however children between the ages of 5 to 15 years old must be accompanied into the zoo by a spectating parent or guardian paying normal zoo admission (1 adult per 1 child).
The Butterfly & Bug habitat is warm, please ensure you bring a bottle of water with you, which can be filled up in Adventure HQ.
Regrettably certain guests will be unable to take part including people with relevant phobias or known allergies; and immunocompromised individuals.
Whilst every effort is made to accommodate those with a disability or learning difficulty, due to practicality and health and safety this cannot always be achieved – contact Chester Zoo before purchasing.
