Round 2 – Educator Guide

Step 1: Speaking and Listening

First we need to talk about it. Have a go at our debate on plastic packaging. Listening to different perspectives is so important.

Step 2: Writing – Composition

Start off with our native species threat game.

Then think about enjoying a walk by our local river and connecting with nature. “Water, a source of Creativity” will encourage pupils to think about the importance of our local water sources.

Now for some creative writing inspiration! Have a bit of fun with our story starter, “Chameleon Chaos.”

Time for some research with, “Where in the world?” Can you encourage your pupils to find more information on these species and record their findings in our animal fact file template.

Step 3: Non-verbal Communication

Inspire you pupils to think differently about communication with these fun games. Firstly, have a go at our chimpanzee expression game?

To look into more depth you could have fun exploring the animal behaviour collection.

Before you go…

Just a reminder before you go that if any of your pupils have questions or if you would like to delve a little deeper into the subject

We have created a Love it for Longer Virtual Workshop to complement this programme.  The session delves a little deeper into the topics covered in the Love it for Longer packs and work that is going on at Chester Zoo.  We have designed this interactive session to fit in at any stage of the programme.

We also have our 25 minute Ask Chester Zoo workshops that are perfect to give your pupils the opportunity to ask any questions to us that may arise during the course of your Love it for Longer project.
