Teaching the topic of climate change and sustainability can feel daunting, but our interactive Climate and Sustainability Project is full of ACTIVITIES and helpful GUIDES that’ll help break it down into manageable chunks.

We’ll look at how Chester Zoo and its conservation partners makes a difference in preserving global biodiversity all around the world! Our experts will use the latest science to equip your students with all the tools they need to make impactful changes and feel empowered to take action!

WORKSHOP 1 (In School)

What is climate change? We’ll discuss the terminology and look at what climate change actually is and how it has changed our planet. We’ll explore how human activity is dramatically influencing global temperatures and extreme weather. What does this mean for people and threatened species in the UK and abroad? Are all countries affected equally?

WORKSHOP 2 (In School)

We all leave footprints. Every species has an impact on the planet but humans perhaps more so than others. We’ll look at the ever-expanding demand for resources and how this demand is drastically changing our world. From soaps and toothpaste, to bread and chocolate, most of us will use palm oil daily… but did you know that not all palm oil is the same?

WORKSHOP 3 (In School)

Why is climate change still happening? Culture is ever-changing, and in a divided world who should we listen to? Students will think about what is important to them, their role models and explore what influence they have on the world around them. They’ll learn that everyday choices can make a significant and positive difference to the climate.

ZOO VISIT

Knowing their connection to the wider world and understanding exactly what climate change is, students will visit the zoo to see some incredible species that are threatened by climate change. They’ll also learn how we help prevent extinction.
