Learn about the rainforests of South East Asia, why they and the amazing species that live there are so threatened by unsustainable palm oil production and find out what you can do to help.
Our experts will support you every step of the way, delivering a teacher kickstarter session, whole school assembly, workshops for each participating class in school, virtually and in the zoo and providing all the resources you need to take learning across the curriculum.
The project takes place across a school term, with dates selected to meet your timetable as far as possible.
Our conservation education officers will visit you in school to deliver a training session for participating teachers and a school assembly so that everyone knows what to expect.
Our experts will join you online to deliver a virtual workshop to each participating class.
We’ll visit school again to deliver workshops for each class and help prepare for the zoo visit.
The project culminates in a visit to the zoo to meet the species you’ve been learning about and get more input from our experts. And we’ll leave you with all the resources you need to follow up from this visit in class.
A fully virtual version of this project can also be delivered. A virtual project still includes all of the resources and ongoing support, as well as sessions one to three, all delivered virtually via video link. It can be a great way to connect with us if you are outside of our catchment area or if visits are restricted.
The project is priced based on the number of classes that participate. Prices include all workshops led by zoo staff, resources and zoo admission for pupils and adults at standard supervising ratios. Any transport costs to get to the zoo are not included. Other discounts, such as memberships or free visit tickets, cannot be applied.
