UV LIGHT & HEAT FOR REPTILES – SCIENCE AT CHESTER ZOO
Reptiles are ectothermic (or cold blooded) which means they need an external source, such as the sun, to heat themselves. They need heat to do things such as move, digest their food and even to reproduce. So, how do we replicate the sun in our reptile habitats at the zoo? This video gives an insight into the work our keepers do with UV lighting and heat sources to ensure the wellbeing of our much loved reptiles.
