At the zoo

Length of workshop 50 minutes

Inspired by the winter wonder of The Lanterns at Chester Zoo, join us for a magical adventure like no other!

Designed for Key Stage 1 and 2 school groups, we’ll use interactive puppetry and storytelling to engage students and explore with them the many challenges that winter brings to UK wildlife.

Your class will journey through the zoo with a member of our Conservation Education team, who’ll be carrying a very special owl, named Winnie, who lights up from within. The glow is a gift from the magic wishes he’s been given. But Winnie has a problem – what on earth should he wish for? Luckily, there are lots friends at Chester Zoo who might be able to help!

Through a short walking tour, we’ll visit some of our unique and wonderful animals to learn how they cope in colder times. This will help your students decide how Winnie’s wishes should be used!

This wonderful, magical workshop is a fantastic way for your class to learn and celebrate the winter season, and how animals adapt.
