How do I buy a Capture the Moment! Experience?

You can buy one of our Capture the Moment! Experiences on our online shop here or call our Gifts and Experience team on 01244 650281. You will then receive a gift wallet containing your gift voucher and everything you need to know about your Experience - where to park, arrival time and pre-booked date.

I am a member. Do I get discount?

This Experience is a full day Experience; members do not receive a discount.

Do I have to pre-book my Experience?

You will be asked at the point of purchase to select one of our available dates to attend.  You must select and pre-book your Photography Workshop date. Places are limited and are on a first come first serve basis.

Who will be leading the workshops?

Award-winning photographer and wildlife filmmaker Sue Flood will be leading these exciting workshops. Sue has a passion about the use of still and moving images to engage people’s interest in the natural world.

Having won many photographic awards including being named as International Photographer of the Year (Travel and Tourism) 2009, Sue’s adventures have taken her from the Artic to Russia, Vietnam, Japan, Africa and throughout the South Pacific.

What’s included in the price?

A Capture the Moment! Photography Workshop at Chester Zoo offers a fantastic opportunity to learn more about your camera and capture great photo’s around the UK’s top zoo.

This exciting Experience is packed full of useful tips, that can be used when capturing our amazing animals, from the big cats to the rare reptiles as well as the chance to spend a day with a professional award winning wildlife photographer Sue Flood.

The workshop will combine a mixture of classroom theory and a practical session out and about in the zoo. Your admission into the zoo is included for the full day; you will receive a welcome drink upon arrival, expert advice and tuition on your camera and a meal voucher to spend towards your lunch in one of our catering outlets (participating outlets – Café Bembe & June's Pavilion). 

What dates will the Photography Workshops be running?

Sunday 28th February, Sunday 6th March & Saturday 9th April 2016.

What camera and equipment do I need to bring?

We recommend that you bring along a point and shoot camera or a digital SLR.

We also recommend that you bring along a spare battery and memory card as well as protective covering in case of wet weather.

What should I wear?

Please dress sensibly for your workshop, and be prepared for wet weather.

What footwear is necessary?

It is important to wear sturdy footwear with enclosed toes (preferably with safety toe caps). Your practical session will also involve lots of walking throughout the zoo.

Who are the workshops aimed at / is there an age restriction?

Photography Workshops are aimed at beginners to intermediate enthusiasts. Participants must be over the age of 16 years to attend a photography workshop.

Are there any other restrictions?

Participants will need to be of reasonable fitness to take part in the activities.

Regrettably this experience is not suitable for pregnant woman.

Whilst every effort is made to accommodate those with a disability or learning difficulty, due to practicality and health and safety this cannot always be achieved; please contact us for advice before purchasing.

How long does the workshop last?

Workshops will run from approximately 9.30 am – 4.00 pm.

Timings may vary and are subject to change according to the time of year.

How many people will be taking part?

There will be a maximum of 16 participants per workshop plus a professional wildlife photographer.

Can I bring a guest?

This Experience is not designed for spectators; however friends and family are more than welcome to visit Chester Zoo on the same day.

Guests will not be able to gain admission until the zoo opens at 10 am, and will need to pay normal zoo admission. Please be aware that guests will not be able to follow the group during their practical session out and about in the zoo.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Here at Chester Zoo, we do have indoor enclosures, however we recommend bringing appropriate waterproof clothing and footwear. Please also ensure your camera and equipment is protected.

Can I get a refund on my Experience voucher?

Under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 you have a right to cancel your order and or return an item purchased through the Chester Zoo online shop within 7 (seven) days of delivery for any reason.

Chester Zoo will refund your payment card with both the item cost and original posting and packaging cost within a reasonable period of time.  Unfortunately Chester Zoo is not able to refund the cost of return postage and packaging. 

Please note this does not include the right to return personalised items and admission tickets.  A refund can only be made to the purchaser on the same card originally used for payment.  A refund cannot be given once a booking has been made or on extended, expired or exchanged vouchers.
