This application process is for projects that contribute to an academic qualification higher than a Master’s degree and research carried out by qualified researchers from other zoos or institutions.

NB Projects supported by BIAZA/EEP/TAG are more likely to be approved. You are strongly recommended to receive approval before you submit an application.

Biological Sample Requests only
Projects requiring other types of data
If you are requesting biological sample AND other data (e.g. observations, interviews) please complete both forms.
We’ve produced some guidance material to help you apply.
We aim to assess applications within four weeks of receipt. The review process may be longer depending on the number of projects under review at any given time.
As soon as the review process has been completed you’ll receive an email letting you know the outcome of your proposal. If your proposal is approved and you require access to the zoo, a form to issue your Research Pass (current cost £40) will be also be sent for you to complete.
We strongly recommend you apply well in advance.
